Psychoeducational and ADHD Assessments

At Infinite Path, we offer psychoeducational and ADHD assessments for children from age 5, teens and adults. An assessment helps you understand how you or your child learns, thinks and pays attention, and what support will help most at school, at work and at home.

Assessments are completed by Lareina Dibben, Registered Psychologist.

What is a psychoeducational assessment?

A psychoeducational assessment looks at how a person thinks, learns and manages day to day. It usually includes:

  • A cognitive assessment (thinking and reasoning skills)
  • An academic assessment (reading, writing and math)
  • A look at behaviour and emotional wellbeing

Depending on your questions, it may also look at everyday living skills, attention, or other mental health needs.

The results can help explain why something feels harder than it should, show strengths to build on, and give schools clear recommendations for support.

What is an ADHD assessment?

An ADHD assessment looks at attention, focus, organization and impulsivity, and how these affect daily life. It brings together interviews and questionnaires completed by you and, with your permission, by people who know you or your child well, such as teachers. The goal is a clear answer about whether ADHD is present, and practical recommendations for what will help.

What to expect

A psychoeducational assessment usually involves three steps:

  1. Intake. You complete an online intake form, then we meet to talk through your questions and background. For a child, this meeting is usually with parents. Previous assessments, report cards, school support plans and teacher reports are very helpful to bring.
  2. Testing. Testing takes place over one or two sessions, usually three to four hours each, at a pace that suits the person being assessed. It includes activities like answering questions, building designs and puzzles, and familiar school tasks such as reading, writing and math.
  3. Feedback. Once the report is written, we meet to go through the results and recommendations and answer your questions. The written report is sent electronically within one to two days after that meeting.

Consultation with schools, including attending school meetings, may be available on request.

Fees

  • Psychoeducational assessment: $2,500 to $3,000, paid in three instalments
  • ADHD assessment: $750 to $1,000, paid all at once or in two payments

The cost depends on the questions the assessment needs to answer. Assessments by a Registered Psychologist may be covered by extended health benefits, so please check with your provider.
